Properties: perfuming, flavoring, balsamic, relieves nervous tension, promotes relaxation and induces natural sleep.

Lavender flowers are useful for the treatment of headache, neuroasthenia and all minor sleep disorders.

The essential oil is used in its pure state for burns and fissures.  It also serves to keep insects, including lice, away.

Curiosity: the European Commission suggests the infusion of the tops of lavender as a safe treatment for "states of agitation, difficulty in falling asleep and functional disorders of the gastrointestinal tract".
